sixty-three dollars!

That's a good price for 3.5 mm connectors. They are precision connectors that are OK to 35 GHz, unlike the Amazon SMA s*it that maxes out in X band if you are lucky.
SMA connectors with their loose mechanical specs can easily kill 3.5 mm connectors. The center conductor in
3.5 mm connectors is often held by just 1 or 2 mica pieces & air. You may get away with mating them to SMA but this is abuse and removes the better frequency behaviour.I have some 3.5mm connectors were you can see through in the long direction. The mica disks even have 6 boreholes around the center conductor to limit their influence on the local eps-r. We don't want no low pass.
The edge-launch cheapies look good with a 20 GHz TDR, if you get the PCB layout right.
Pasternack pricing has always been insane.

My (limited) experience with industrial trade shows is that connector companies send their best salespeople. For whatever reason other companies with much more interesting products on paper sometimes seem to send whomever is available.
CES is sort of like that lately too, like who have we got around to go to this thing? Hey you're not doing anything why don't you go. There will only be thousands of potential customers and influencers with hundreds of thousands of followers there with a plausible advertising reach of millions. Just sit around on your phone and ignore them, it's cool.
