Hi, I hope this is the correct group to post this, I´ve browsing this group and I find it vey informative.
Well, to the topic now.
I have an Old 14" Samsung Syncmaster 3Ne for sometime now I think about 8 years of continuous daily use. Recently someone was playing around the CRT when he shouldn´t and happend to crash with it. It left a scratch, it´s hard to judge how deep it is but for me it´s pretty superficial. The thing is that I have this famous "protective windows" or "protective glass" (I don´t know the exact name you use for it) right in front of it that is supposed to alleviate the problems that being in front of CRT can cause if you stay for too long, even if it is by a small amount. Well when the incident ocurred it left a scratch on the backside of the protective glass(the one that is looking at the CRT, the glass is somewhat thick) and on the CRT glass. Fortunately the CRT still works perfectly. What I want to know is if this scratch might have removed some protection from the CRT or protective glass and if there is a way to smooth out the scratch. The scratch is about an inch long. Also I would like to know how this protective glass works (if it works at all) and what exactly it protects or pretends to protect the user from.
Any info or help is appreciated.
