Samples from Infineon?

Ok, did it because this time I had no choice, no domestic alternatives. Designed in a BSP297 and it seems you can get them almost everywhere in Asia and Europe. Tons of them, but just not in the US. No stock.

How does one obtain samples from Infineon? Do you have to become member of their club? Their web site is, well, lets says "suboptimal". It even bombs when clicking on the US representative meaning you can't even get their phone number. What a pain.

Looking at your whois, I'm guessing San Jose is closest to you. I got this this sales office location from a URL * that should be taken out and shot:

Infineon Technologies North America Corporation 1730 North First Street CA 95112 San Jose California United States of America Phone: +1-408-5016000 Fax: +1-408-5012444

There are several other US sales offices across the country. I saved the page, so if you need the information on a different office, just ask.

Mozilla 1.7.8 navigated their site OK. I tried to simplify the URL and got the following error message:

--
Error
The system encountered a problem and cowardly refuses to perform the
requested action - please try again later. We apologize for the
inconvenience this causes. Please contact Infineon for further details.

It does, simply place your order to Newark using the Franell number. Painless. And, IIRC, they don't add extra shipping charges.

Farnell in the UK stock them, and they have some sort of tie-up with Newark, in that you can order Newark stuff through them on the same order - may be worth asking Newark if it works the other way. Failing that I'm sure there are European distis that will ship to the US.

Hello Matt,

Thanks! That's what I needed so I can call them Monday morning. I printed this out for the Infineon file so I don't have to use their web site next time.

Well, I get a "page not found" error when trying to look up US sales offices. TI and others make it so simple to order samples with a few mouse clicks. I didn't expect that level from Infineon but at least they could hire some better web designers.

Thanks. I'll just call them. It doesn't matter whether we have to pay or not as long as they show us a way to actually get some transistors onto the lab bench.

Hello Sylvain,

Thank you, that is very kind. We actually found them at Farnell and some Asian suppliers but ideally need them, well, now :-(

So I'll call Infineon Monday and ask for some miracle.

Hello Mike,

in that you can order

works the other way.

Yes, I saw Farnell UK has stock. Just wanted to avoid the shipping time but if that's the only source we'll order from them.

Hello Winfield,

Yes. The only difference is that it takes a bit longer for the stuff to get to your desk because it has to come from a warehouse in Europe. In the UK I believe. And they might not ship to you guys in Boston because you threw their tea into the bay...

You have my sympathies.

I was interested in IR's new Direct Fets. I placed an enquiry with them for 2 types and one of their gate drivers.

They're in heavy demand so I got talking to a guy at the European Head Office here in the UK. When they discovered I was only interested in 10k parts p.a. they simply stopped responding to my emails.

I'd happily buy some as samples except that they're all allocated and you simply can't get any unless you place a batch order yourself ( with MOQ ) - and I only want to evaluate the wretched things.

Hello Graham,

When I see a company pulling that kind of stuff I assume they'd do the same thing to my clients some day and I take note. Then their design-in rate usually tanks. Big time.
