You must not rent DVDs very often, then.

That is weird. AFAICT this is hardware on my PCs. You can set what the PC should do if the power button is pressed normally (a short press) and I set that to hibernate on my PCs. But if you keep holding that button the PCs are forced to power off no matter what.

Well, have you ever booted into deep space? 'No matter what' is limited to your pre-installed ms virus I suppose.

An other incredible booo boooo from Samsung:

I noticed yesterday my screen was full of fat prints. Thought "I' didit, and meticulously cleaned it. Folded the laptop for the night, This morning opened it, and full of fat spots again. They all looked a bit squarish... especially the one that looked like the space bar... So the keys touch the LCD if you close the notebook! It is soft keys (too soft) but nevertheless a mechanical design by an idiot.

And if that fails, there's always the one on the power bar. ;)

In IBM, that used to be called the "Poughkeepsie reset".

Yes.

After the HD croaked on a laptop there was no OS at all on it.

Suggestion: Eat more healthy stuff :-)

space bar...

Whoops, that warrants a lemon prize plus an entry into the hall of blame for the designer. Or a dunking into a moat like they used to do in medieval times.

Minor problem: The guy is unable to offer alternatives because they can't even build as much as a 2N3904 up north.

And if that fails, there's always yank-the-battery-out-of-the-laptop + yank-the-power-cord-from-the-outlet. =3D)

Our Vostro 1000 laptop has this weird issue where the keyboard sloooows waaay dooown in Windows XP because of a bad battery. It's fine in Linux though, so I thought it was a Windows malware of some sort. Researched it, but nah I'm not gonna pay $100 for a new battery, so if I have to go to Windows, out goes the battery.

If that don't work there's the "ornery spouse reset": The circuit breaker. That tends to get the attention of even the nerdiest computer addict because it also makes the lights go out :-)

Very badly named. Even a nuke wouldn't reset anything back that far.

An idiot like you should be the subject of a worldwide televised public vivisection.
