You've already had a lot of responses, and I don't know enough to evaluate them properly. However, I can think of one recommendation I'd offer becore you start cutting, bending, or heating: get a spare. (_I'd_ get two, but I'm not all that coordinated. )

Good luck. I suppose heat-treating and re-forming the stone face by dipping it in a pool of molten lava is out of the question?
