The 10c's were an early and critical step in The Enlightment. As was the Reformation, English common law and the Magna Carta, and the US Constitution as amended.

It's well known, but here's a reference that makes the point

There a figure that plots Covid cases and deaths in the US from April to December 2021, for unvaccinated and vaccinated people.

The case rate peaked at about 800 per 100,000 per week at the end of August for unvaccinated people, and the death rate peaked at about 20 per 100,000 per week in the same week for unvaccinated people - that's a death rate of one in 40 which is a whole lot more than one 16,750.

There's probably a more intelligible study out there somewhere, but this the first one that Google offered me, and none of the next half dozen offered anything more helpful.

He's written a lot about the Radical Enlightenment - which ran from about 1680 to 1800. I've read several of his books

The ten commandments and Magna Carta were a lot earlier, and aren't seen as all that enlightened.

If you haven't heard of Spinoza, you aren't actually enlightened in any useful way.

So anti-social with very little human contact.

Very few. Many fewer than those that died because Covid-19 killed them

It's not any kind of snake oil vaccine. It's pretty effective at stopping you getting infected by the Covid-19 virus, and no less effective at helping you clear the virus if it does manage to infect you. The vaccinated typically suffer a much less severe infections, and are much less likely to die of the infection than the unvaccinated.

And it's not a specifically a US vaccine - the early Covid vaccines were developed in a number of countries - and can be manufactured pretty much anywhere.

That doesn't say that the vaccines are killing an damaging thousands of young people. It's a rare side effect - about one in tens of thousands - and rarely kills anybody. Mostly you get over it without suffering any permanent damage.

Your capacity for self-delusion is remarkable.

The F35 works. It's horribly expensive, but it isn't any more dangerous than any other single-engined jet fighter.

You may have been thinking of the F-104. The Germans bought a late, heavier version of the F-104 and it it killed a lot of their pilots.

Nope. Communism wins hands down.

Human stupidity is the main problem, and Cursitor Doom does exemplify that. Stupid people do take up all sorts of silly ideas, and often kill people for absurd reasons. Education does make people less likely to fall for stupid ideas, but if you feed enough indoctrination into the education process it becomes less effective.

That is very old and superficial with no merit YouASh snake oil sales pitch.

Long COVID due to amongst other things blood clots

It is CLEAR even to the blind the COVID shots are behind long COVID!!!!!

It comes from a period where there were enough unvaccinated people around generate samples numerous enough to be worth looking at. Your ideas about what constitutes merit aren't to be taken seriously.

Long Covid was a known problem long before the vaccines had become available. Nothing in that piece suggests that getting vaccinated make you more or less likely to get long Covid, if you get infected by the Covid-19 virus (which is - of course - less likely if you have been vaccinated against it). You aren't blind - just stupid.

Well, 'long COVID' lasts often the rest of the life of those, that often makes it impossible for them to work or live a normal life Thats is why 'long'. So that CANNOT have been diagnosed before the shots that came within a few month to maybe a few years after COVID was spread.

Long COVID is like blood clots the after effect of the COVID shots as described in the original link and you can see the blood clots in the picture of the second link I mentioned.

That's not why it was called long. It just lasted longer than than the few days it took for the normal infection to run its course. It now turns out that in some cases "long Covid" hangs on for years, but people were getting it from early 2020, and it was a known problem long before the vaccines had even been invented, let alone been put through clinical trials and distributed on any kind of large scale.

But none of that means what you would like it mean. You really are stupid.

There are apparently four different sorts of autism - all of them mess up you social interactions in different ways and to different extents.

I actually got the message from New Scientist. Not being able to learn several languages is a significant defect.

In order to get a science degree in Melbourne in 1960 I had to be able to read scientific papers in one of the science languages. The secondary school French I had satisfied the requirement, but I'd also done a bit of German at school and did the one year science German course at university to get credit for that (and it turned out to be quite useful). I also did science Russian, which was less useful.

My biggest problem with learning Dutch was discouraging my Dutch contacts from practicing their English on me.

Perhaps not about language, but you do identify with plumbers and carpenters and other useful tradesmen, less so with creative master craftsmen, which is what you ought to be aspiring to be.

Science does work at taking the mystery out of technology, but it has got a long way to go yet.

Stupid are the ones that fell for the US snake oil and are now suffering? Includes you of course ;-) Poor guys indoctrinated by their government, never learned to think clearly and think for themselves. So many millions, reciting Adam did it with Eve and other crap. Now the victims. I can see clearly now! Its gonna be a bright bright nuclear sun shiny day!

Needs a re-write?

You haven't identified any actual "American snake oil" and while a very few people are suffering from the side effects of American vaccines, they had a much higher chance of suffering from worse side effect from a Covid-19 infection if they avoided vaccination. Taking that risk wasn't stupid at all. You have accepted a much bigger risk to avoid a very remote risk and that really was very stupid of you.

I got Covid-19 longer after I'd been vaccinated, but I got over it fast, and haven't got anything that looks like any kind of long Covid to show for it.

Some people - and you are an obvious example - can't think clearly and can't blame any government for it.

Don't give up the day job.

Nah, whiteboarding is the most fun you can have standing up.

In contrast to sitting down watching TV, of course.

it.

The Melbourne University Economic Department carried out an essentially sociological poverty survey in the 1960's. I took one of the graduate students who had done some of the interviews to a graduate student party once in the late 1960's. One of the more right-wing chemistry department graduate students told her that the poor were poor because they were feckless, and she dismantled him on the spot - the take-away message from the interviews was that people fell into poverty because something went wrong and if you were close to the edge it could be very difficult to get out of poverty once you'd gone over the edge.

She's now a professor of Sociology in Sydney and I still get to talk to her from time to time.
