My Mom(RIP) used to make a strawberry parfait pie that was like Ambrosia.

Unfortunately, I neglected to keep the recipe (she would make it from memory) but I know it has a Graham cracker crust, and used a can of frozen strawberries, thawed, and some whipped cream and strawberry Jello.

My favorite food while growing up was leftovers. ;-D

If you leave it out long enough, almost anything can get moldy. But it could take weeks. And of course, you'd have to keep it moist.

I admit, I've never seen a banana get moldy, just shrivel up and turn black.

Once, in a Franken and Davis sketch on SNL, one of them said he knew Yuri Andropov's middle name. Since Al Franken is now an elected official (and so could have me whisked away by HS for the crime of dissing a politico), I'll leave the punchline to your imagination. ;-)

I still like Twinkies, but I've never really liked the peanut butter/chocolate combo, and I found Reese's peanut butter too grainy for my delicate sensibilities. ;-)

But I've always loved broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, and spinach, and I can eat Brussels sprouts without gagging. ;-)

But I won't allow zucchini or eggplant anywhere near my mouth. (albeit I like acorn and butternut squash. Spaghetti squash is edible, but kind of a PITA to fix.)

It all depends on how it is fixed. I can eat fried zuchinni, at least a little. Eggplant cutlets (from TJs) are really good, if you serve them parmagean (sp?) with cheese and spaghetti sauce. Even better with meatballs!

Asparagus is a no-no. Spinach in a salad is ok, or on a pizza, but just cooked is rebellion time!

But, you can definitely get better ice cream nowadays!

Ok, I will post my favorite ripe banana recipe!

Banana Split Muffins

Take a ripe banana, and mash it in a bowl.

Add an egg and 1/4 cup milk, and mix.

And 1/4 to 1/2 cup of chopped nuts. My brother in law in Georgia has three acres of pecan trees, so I use pecans!

Add one box of Jiffy Banana Muffin mix, stir till just mixed.

Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, I prefer dark!

Pour into 8 buttered muffin tins, and back at 400 degrees for 12 minutes or until lightly brown.

Enjoy!

What squeamish weenies! All veggies are good... though eggplant is tricky to cook without _over_cooking_ and turn it to mush.

Zucchini should be steamed, by the way ;-)

Asparagus is best when it's young, old plants are tough and stringy.

Spinach is wonderful in all forms... salad _or_ cooked ;-)

I only like a few things breaded and fried... calamari, veggie and shrimp tempura... and an occasional fried seafood platter ;-)

Home grown. Either fresh, or canned.

They used to use better ingredients and no preservatives where I grew up. 'United Dairy Farmers' was a chain of convenience stores that started as a retail outlet for a dairy. Their 'black cherry' and 'dutch apple' ice cream were the best I've ever had. That was around 1970, when I first started driving. At one time it was voted as the best ice cream in the US.
