OT: Wow! Reason returns to law and order...

They can write good laws to support a single-party White state, which is what all the rationalizing and dissembling about sticking to the letter of the law is about.

Once you got one of those you definitely wouldn't want anyone to be able to change it on a wihm.

The amusing thing is that they think Trump is the guy who's gonna make it happen, when pretty much any other random WN you could hire off Stormfront.org would be more qualified.

Medium and maximum-security prisons are quickly taking over from public schools in Arizona last I checked

If you hack up the link to point to preview.tinyurl.com, you can get a better idea.

Me, any time I feel like clicking on one, I use a disposable VM in Qubes. They launch pretty fast and go away completely when you close the browser (or whatever program you launch in the DispVM).

Cheers

When I was a baby, I was so cute that Hopalong Cassidy, on a horse, stopped a Mardi Gras parade to pick me up and kiss me.

Or worse... because although there are no cars, there *is* a black motorcycle, speeding, in a small side-street, in the drizzling rain at deep twilight, wearing dark clothing and helmet, with totally inadequate lights, appearing from behind parked cars, giving you basically zero warning, then trying to blame you because they laid their bike down when they saw you start to move forward *after* you stopped.

Yes, it happens.

I don't think anyone is in favor of eliminating traffic laws - IMO they're not at all enforced stringently in the US anyway (except when there's money to be made.)

Also they're another regressive tax on the poor. What does someone who makes 100k a year care about getting a $50 parking ticket or a $100 speeding fine? There are seriously residents of Boston who simply accept $10,000 worth of parking tickets a year as a "cost of doing business" cuz it's cheaper than renting a parking space in a tony area of the Back Bay over the same timeframe.

I'm frankly way more terrified of fascism than anarchy, simply due to statistical arguments. True anarchy lasting any significant amount of time is an anomaly of recent human history. Fascism, however, is really common!

I haven't seen any complaints.

Ignoring inapropriate laws is one way of working to have them changed.

see "civil disobediance" and "Jury nullification"

So, no cops :) Still, you don't want to hit a cyclist or a pedestrian.

So, the council (who are collecting the fines) and the car owner (who pays them) have an agreement.

Were the parking really problematic the council would relocate the car to an impound lot.

Me too, I just hope the R's don't have to finish dismantling the filibuster to get it done. Though I fear that's coming sooner or later.

No pepper spray and beat-down with a tactical grade flashlight? No helicopters? No armored rescue vehicles with quad 50s sticking out the roof?

Sounds like Mr. Boyd was one of those progressive-socialists who do not support and respect the police who keep us safe.

The Ds already did, except for the one appointment. They would have for SotUS, too, if they had reason. There are 10 scared Ds in the Senate so it may not happen. *This* time.

Yes, "unspoken agreements" between government and the wealthy to the effect of "the law doesn't apply to you" are fairly common, if you'd noticed.

Right, the only time I wrote to my senators. Telling 'em what short sighted idiots they were... well with nicer language.

In those days, kids could buy chemicals (potassium nitrate, iodine, whatever) and make things that go bang. It was normal.

My chemistry set didn't have the gear to make liquid oxygen. It didn't have those sound effects either.

We had to go to a chemical supply house, or disassemble a shopping bag full of shotgun shells, to get enough stuff to make a respectable bang.
