Pretty crummy bioweapon if so. (Not that it hasn't made a big impact--it just isn't very specific to anybody's actual enemies.

As I've posted before, it looks very much as though some cack-handed bumbler(s) in the labs in Wuhan let loose a virus collected from bats far to the south. The Beijing virology lab has let SARS escape at least twice.

It takes a special sort of idiot to put a Level 4 biocontainment lab in the middle of a badly overcrowded city in the first place.

Of course, they were then handling the Xi 'flu virus in _Level_2_. The USSR's mishandling of Chernobyl pales by comparison.
