OT: Spaetzle Press

I've decide to try my hand at making my own Spaetzle.

Rather than struggle with the mess of pressing thru a slotted spoon or a colander, I understand there is a Spaetzle press you can buy.

Any pointers? Joerg? ...Jim Thompson

This what my wife uses:

Not a press but a sliding bucket over a perforated plane. The holes will pass TO-18 but TO-5 gets stuck.

Brand name GEFU, bought in a store in lower Austria.

Probably, which suggests a battery-powered cookie press my wife has with a similar insert. ...Jim Thompson

Lidia Bastianich made them with the sliding thing and it was messy. She said a meat grinder would work too.

Turns out that many a potato ricer tool is also described as a Spaetzle press. So, problem solved, we have several sizes. ...Jim Thompson

Probably came with settlers on a chuckwagon and when the Indians swooped in for the raid they didn't know what it was for and left it :-)

Those work for softer dough.

I still have my wine... maybe three glasses instead of four every evening ;-) But, most importantly, I have successfully trained myself not to stuff my face... I feel full before I've cleaned my plate.

My out-of-the-shower weight this morning was 161, down from 210 2-1/2 years ago.

I can even get up off the floor without grabbing something to pull myself up ;-) ...Jim Thompson
