It's produced here, but it's owners are IIRC far east. Malaysia? It makes almost nothing apart from chassis and bodies. The rest is sourced from other companies.

You get what you pay for. You can get sit on top inflatables that are inexpensive, right down to ones that should be considered pool toys. The AE has an optional rigid keel. With an inflatable the more definition the hull has the more efficient it paddles.

USA, like the EU, is a protectionist trading bloc. It taxes imports of European cars, so the cheaper ones are not worth importing.

It's the same as the EU. Protecting your market and manufacturers masked as 'all for the good of consumers'.

There aren't too many regulations on bicycles.
