Nomenclature

Hi guys,

Is it just me, or do I see a lot of posts here kind of like ....

"I'm designing an ultra sophisticated trans-dimentional 693-bit,

12.336925 gigahertz orthogonal dynamic phase shifting spread-spectrum controller to get better performance out of my 8-speed food blender ...."

Fibre? Hmmmm....this indicates:

A) You need a spelling checker.

B) You are British.

C) All of the above.

I'm still trying to figure out why the stirring paddles in my breadmaker have to be pointing together before I add all the ingredients

Well, Fibre channel is spelt as such even in the unwashed marshes of the eastern shores of the USA, but I admit to being British. As for spelling checkers, this article (old, but good) is a stock answer:

I was, of course, referring to the form of fibre that one eats, not the optical type (although if one eats too much of one, ones optics are definitely affected)

Best guess: It was manufactured in France and the instructions lost something in translation.

Varicaps have pretty much obsoleted wobulators. Pity.

No, I think it is a mixture of different posts that tend to have a low SNR. We get some that read like:

**** begin quote ****

Some are more like:

The original machine had a base-plate of pre-famulated amulite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing, in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panametric fan. The line-up consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzel vanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-deltoid type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots of the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdlespring on the "up" end of the grammeters.

Moreover, whenever fluorescent scormotion is required, they may also be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocation dinglemar, to reduce sinusoidal deplenerations.

The Retroencabulator has now reached a high level of development and its being successfully used in the operation of Milfor Trenyon.

*** end quote ***

and some that read like:

*** begin ****

My teacher assigned ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H I need to design a flip flip using only NPN transistors and resistors. I'm lost.

*** end ***

and then there are the others that read like:

*** begin ***

I have an op-amp that I've hooked up completely correctly. The output doesn't do anything like it is supposed to do. I've checked the maker's data sheet and their web site carefully. Nowhere in either can I find the problem. I've also double checked the equations and they are all correct too. So now I'm stuck. What is wrong with my circuit?

*** end ***

Althought it is easy to confuse these sorts of posts, I think on more careful reading you will notice that they are quite different from one another.

Nah. It's usually, 'I'm designing a blahblahblah, and I need a schematic because it has to be done Tuesday."

Have you ever actually travelled from the inner mind to the outer limits?

Sometimes, you need drugs to help you on your way, but whan you do get there, it shore is purty! %-}
