Nice Drive

I just got a USB 1TB drive from our local club, guess I'll be going back to get another..

Plug it in, the system recognizes just fine and reports it as it should.. Go to access it, Click, Click, Click, rattle, Click and then the death message comes up from winders.

so, I attempted to format it. same issue.

Don't know if it was a return of not, if it was, they did a good job at repackaging it.

What kind?

I got a 750G Maxtor (OneTouch I think) from Costco as a USB backup drive. It works just fine for me, no problems.

Of course, I moved all the Maxtor autorun crap onto a separate directory. Maybe the autorun software is giving you trouble?

Oh, and what OS are you running?

Is the USB port up to the task (power-wise)?

who where

It was a "AcomData", I took it back today and got another, this one seems to work. I didn't disturb the package that much, I would be willing to bet, it'll be back on the deck for sell.!

No, was there something incomprehensible about my post?

Yes, the replacement unit works fine. I have it attached to an desktop system that has enough head room on the ports for power.

The only thing you might have to do is reformat to NTFS unless you're certain you'll never have a file > 4gigs. Of course a Mac will read NTFS but not write to it. Go figure.
