While I appreciate your suggestion about having Bubba down at the local sheet metal shop fabricate a box, it should have been EXTREMELY obvious from my original post that that was totally out of the question.

Your original ignorance, and now your downright assinine rebuttal when I politely spell it out for you clearly suggests you've never taken the witness stand to provide expert testimony on any safety matters related to electronics or electrical engineering. And there's certainly no harm in trying to find better pricing (which I was not bitching about, BTW), better sourcing, etc.... Cabinets this size are not often stocked. Not that they are rare, but let's face it, it's not an inventory mover & shaker

Thanks. I originally looked at automationdirect. 4-week lead, which might be OK. I didn't see the $274 price, though. But I will re-check with them. I probably skipped over it due to no-stock. (?)

We buy a lot of Eaton / Cutler Hammer pushbuttons from them (Allen- Bradley look-alikes) You are correct. They generally have very, very good pricing. Particularly in smaller quantities. Thanks for the tip.

I always think of BUD as carrying small-box type cabinets, and handheld enclosures. But I would not have thought to even look there if you hadn't mentioned it.

I used to get rejects from a Square D plant for $20 each They all had some dents, but we were cutting the backs out of some of them to make a double depth box for tower mounted transmitter housings.

Keep an eye out at surplus places, too. I have picked up some for $30 to $45 with a couple small holes that were no problem to enlarge for the new equipment for industrial applications. The original paint was still good, and it looked like they were punched wrong and scrapped. Hamfests are another good source. A friend who still does freelance AM broadcast work has picked up quite a few for ATUs. I had a couple that size in storage, but lost the warehouse when I got sick.
