MPLAB ICD3 fails with 5V devices

Hello, help needed



my ICD3 suddenly stopped working with %V devices as pic16f777,it is still working with 18F 3.3V devices.



Trying with another ICD3 confirms that my programmer is guilty.



Does anybody know how to fix it?

Forgot to say that i have this message during programmer connection: Target Device ID (00000000) does not match expected Device ID (00000de0).

Need more information. that message says that the programmer asked what processor was attached, and got back nothing. Are you using the programmer to power the circuit? if so, you may need to either adjust the output voltage from the unit (debugger/settings/power) or provide the correct voltage to your circuit directly.

Yes, ICD3 can only power the device upto 3.5V or externally powered

3.3V device. It will not work with 5V. ICD3 works fine with PIC18/ PIC24. You probably need another tool for PIC16.

Probably slow burning of 3.3V with 5V.

Yes, keep buying new one.

forgive me for being so incomplete in my description and for my poor english.

Not.I'm using a self powered circuit

I measured 4.995 V on my circuit and then i set the programmer voltage to

5V but nothing happens.

A couple of hours ago i took an old circuit that i did with 16F628 and

12F509 and it worked correctly. So my assumption that the problem was about 5V devices was wrong an misleading,sorry.
