LibreOffice - Good Program, Poor Help (2023 Update)

I think LibreOffice is a pretty good program, but the support is no better than the manual of commercial products. They cover various functionality in a minimal way, often not explaining much at all.

Example, I'm adding dimension lines to a drawing and I can't get it to put the dimension on the left side of the line. I can flip it, rotate it, muck with it every way I can think of and the dimension value remains on the right side of the dimension lines.

Any idea how to fix this? It's not an easy thing to search on. Nearly everything that shows up is not relevant.

There are support forums for LibreOffice, as well as a group devoted to improving the documentation. As for your question - which part of LibreOffice are you using? The LibreCad I suspect, but it helps to list that. I mostly work with the Dbase and Calc versions so can't offer any useful advice on Cad other than check the forums...

Remember it is FREE, so the only support is what folks tend to offer in their spare time, kinda like Usenet.

Not sure how "free" is relevant. It is ether a tool I can use or one I can't.

I'm using Draw. I didn't know they had a LibreCAD tool. I've not learned any CAD tool as yet, but to get this 3D printed will certainly require one, so I should look into that. Thanks.

For now I'm just thinking about how to best design it, rather than focusing on getting it made at all. Trying to work out the overly thought portions and getting something that is as simple as possible, but not moreso.

Fudge? Draw a second line to left of desirable line, label it so the label is placed where you want, and make this "construction line" invisible as possible.

That's why Linux is so popular.... NOT! Too many trolls in the help forums just like here.

Maybe you can get the answer from the forums and report it here. Lord knows you don't qualify as any sort of guru other than of BS.
