Layout advices for an ir2110

Hi, I'm designing an inverter and now i'm going to design the pcb for the ir2110 driver and the IGBT's, the characteristics will be, a max voltage rail of 400V and a maximum current of 40A. I have been reading the application notes of IR (AN-978) and some more stuff, and the things that i got clear are, use direct and thick tracks, put the capacitors for decoupling as close as it possible to the ir2110, connect the drain of the high side device near to the low side device to reduce the possible inductance/impedance, connect the igbt's near to the ir2110, put a capacitor between the drain of the high side device and the source of the low side device to reduce the inductance. What other things do i have to considare to obtain a good pcb layout?.

I will use copper bars to carry the current, do i need to considare anything special with the copper bars?, to calculate the widht and the thick for the copper bar i have used this calculator

can i trust in the results of the calculator?. Thanks so much in advance.

To keep the inductance low for the gate drive you want to minimise the *loop area* involved.

and don't run any control signals near or under the high current paths.

Hi, thanks for your answer, yes you are right, i was trying to mean that but i say wrong.

Hi thanks for your advice, in the layout i got the componens disposed in line, control signal---- optocoupler-----ir2110-----igbt's.

And another question, it's about the figure 7 in the application note an978, in the figure puts the bypass capacitor and then connect by a twisted wire to a power gnd plane and to a power line plane, the supply that i will use for the inverter will be a external supply, so my question is need i to connect this power supply to a board with a power line plane and a power gnd plane, and from this board with twisted wire connect to the rectifier?, i hope everybody understand what i mean, thanks in advance.
