Well if you can get more power, then maybe. But a AA battery has ~1 A*hr or ~1.5 Watt*hr, so 10^6 hours at 1 uW.

You'd need some sort of rectifier to get power from Johnson noise.

oOK, I didn't read the article, but just skimmed it.
The authors seem to think it's a thermal 'thing'. I can imagine getting microwatts from some thermal gradient. But I saw no discussion of gradients.
My chemistry is much worse than my physics, :^) But it is a rather poor paper. It's too bad that reporters now have to scrounge arxiv for interesting stories.
