The instructions on an inexpensive Dremel-type rotary tool set (tool,case etc.- 229 pieces for C$49) say "Handling the power cord on thisproduct may expose you to lead, a chemical known to (sic) the State ofCalifornia to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductiveharm. _Wash hands after handling_. Now, the prongs look to be nickel plated, and the rest of the powercord is covered by PVC (and, incidentally, the web site of themanufacturer says their stuff is RoHS compliant). Nah. The actual problems with lead are well documented. California's atavistic, hyper-knee-jerk, over the top, response is a bigger problem than the lead itself.

Actually, due to law suits, CA has quit using MTBE.

But i do not think that we have really taken the lead from New York, Taxachussets, Delaware or Texas.
