Generally, if you want them to copy the information you want it copied as a whole, including your logo, if you think of it as advertisement. Maintain the copyright but give a free license to copy it in its entirety.

I wish I could win, just by virtue of being the boss. It seems to make me a more prominent target. What happened to traditional Dickens-style fear and servatude?

The trick is to subltly plant your idea with the boss, then in a few weeks he/she thinks it's it their idea. (works for co-workers too.)

That actually works; my first boss taught me that, presumably so I could use it on him.

Some of my emps are less subtle: they bulldoze me straight up. Even worse, sometimes they are right.

We only have four engineers, if you include me, so we don't have the level of group-think that we see in bigger organizations, where most everybody knows that something big won't work, or won't be done on time, but nobody wants to be the first person to say it.

Hypothetically you might not want them using your text or images to sell a competing product.

Of course if your stuff is so insanely good that they'd have to be nuts to try that won't be an issue :)

We avoid having any competition, by making our stuff sufficiently weird. I think a lot of small companies consciously avoid fighing another small company to be the low bidder for half of some market.
