DSL Range Extender

My back acreage butts up to the local industrial park (makes it a loteasier to walk up to the hangar at the airport). However, theindustrial park has DSL and we are the AT&T redheaded stepchild thatwon't get broadband for at least 5 years at the house.If I can convince one of my neighbors to let me install a phone lineat their business and then run a relatively high powered repeaterthrough some fairly high gain antennas to the house, is there a box onthe market that I can BUY off the shelf that will let me full duplexto and from a remote site from the house?There is fairly heavy tree cover (evergreen, mostly cedar) between theindustrial park and the house, hence the need for relatively highpower.Worry not about interference. We are so far out into the boonies thatthey have to pipe in sunshine.No, I don't have the luxury of time for design. I can get a couple ofwatts at a couple of gigs fairly simply, but I just don't have thetime for it right now. The antennas are trivial and I can do themquite easily, whether they be water pipe yagis or coffee can horns.Thanks,Jim

What you need is what a former neighbor had... his business was sprinkler systems and he had a trencher that did about a 3-4" wide "slot", up to 18" deep.

Borrowed it once to put in a gas line to my 300K Btu pool heater ;-) ...Jim Thompson

Here wood lath was used to hold plaster up through the 20s at least. We had expanded metal lath in our early 50's built house, though. Chicken mesh is still de rigeur for stucco houses.

The RF killer in the US is aluminum siding, so popular in the 1960s and 70s.

Here (El Dorado County, California) that kind of ground is fairly normal. In some areas you have to be especially careful because some rock contains natural asbestos.

Worse is what we have: Aluminum-backed insulation inside of the walls. Since they wanted to be extra good and included interior (!) walls WLAN and DECT signals bounce so badly that, despite strong field strength (full bars), you get no connection in some parts of the house.
