Huzzah! Google takes over 2 seconds to start now.
It just got bookmarked. I like the discovery that i clicked on it and it was up, right now.
Not blocked if you run an MS OS. Those come pre-perforated.
I regularly turn my modem off when not needed. Then when it re-connects it always obtains a new IP address.
No, that only stops the parts that get loaded and executed on your machine, more is executed on the servers you are browsing.
You are ascribing way too much willpower to small programs. And the scriptkiddies (webpage developers) always leave all that crap in the website becuse they are too lazy to turn it off (some can't even figure out how).

And it is, so far, dependant on client side scripts. That limitation will disappear soon and we will have new addons to limit such access. And the arms race geos on.
Some neighbors think we are paranoid for locking our cars inside the locked garage. Also a business friend. Then one fine day he found his garage door open and his new Saab 9000 gone, including the briefcase he had in there.
Better safe than sorry :-)
How exactly would they do that?
Locking the car only ensures maximum damage to the car when they bust it open.
There are mechanical latches on my garage door which then requires forcible breaking of the door... not likely to happen quickly enough before the noise would alert the neighbors.
Of course there was a time here in AZ when we didn't even lock the house :-) ...Jim Thompson
Insurance companies have a slightly different opinion.
Those days are long gone :-(
That only applies to street parking. "Garaged" here in AZ gets you a much lower rate. In Californica, who knows.
Yep. Around 1975 or so someone entered our house, fortunately tripped and made a noise, and the dogs were on them. Whoever it was dropped my camera and ran. ...Jim Thompson
Do you check the IP address every time you power it up?
It gets weirder than that, i used to live in Lennox, a named unincorporated area of Los Angeles county, about the time of the Rodney King Riots, with people running through both front and back yards and many local businesses burned out (easy walking distance). Within a few months i left the place not merely unlocked, but with the front door standing open for hours, nothing was disturbed, my roomie came unglued.
I don't think i can expect that you do not beleive in the existance of all the third party anti-malware products for MS OSs. They could not sell well if there weren't cause. That is just the beginnig of what i mean by MS OS oriented products comming pre-perforated (insecurity holes). In particular, take a look at all the pro privacy invasion properties of IE.
You never know. At the North Scottsdale house a neighbor got pissed at his wife and was chasing her, with pistol in hand, thru the neighborhood, THRU houses :-(
We got a call and quickly locked up before they got to us :-)
He didn't shoot her.
He got retribution. In the Scottsdale tornado his roof caved in and crushed his Lincoln Continental. Within days the floods wiped out his North Dakota house ;-) ...Jim Thompson
Why would I want to do that? Sometimes when uploading stuff I see it, and it's always different.
Well, sure. Same in your home. Even if you had locks, alarm, guns, lots of ammo, and security guards there is no guarantee that nobdoy will harm your family. But the chances become rather slim.
A detective once told me an old rule: You make it difficult for intruders and they will move on to easier prey. Unless you are a very desired target like a millionaire, then you need more extra measures than others.
I never use IE.
