A lot of patents are part of a startup pump-and-dump plan, something to brag about in a pitch. Now that the US patent office is a profit center, and patents require annual payment, the patent office has no incentive to research prior art or ensure sensibility... let the lawyers fight it out.
A patent is just an invitation to waste a lot of time and money on lawyers. And on ego.

Wolves are returning to California and cattle/sheep ranchers don't like it.
In San Francisco, we have increasing numbers of coyotes, hawks, owls, wild parrots, sea lions, possum, raccoons, and even some wild turkeys now. Squirrels and rats eat our lemons and apples.
We met some people that we thought were walking their dog. It's actually a wolf that they raised from a cub.
There were a couple of street signs near here. CAUTION COYOTES and MISSING CAT.
I am conducting carefully controlled experiments to see what junk food the crows and ravens and jays prefer. Yesterday I tried a mix of cheetos and fritos on the deck. The cheetos were the absolute winner; every cheeeto disappeared before a single frito was tried.
Can you get cheetos and fritos in the olde world?

It gets me ballpark numbers on inductances and resistances and makes me sure that I really understand how a Rogowski coil works. So I can Spice the system and train my instincts.
There are a zillion academic papers with giant equations, and lots of data sheets, but almost no actual numbers about Rs and Ls.
That's too common: lots of theory and no typical numbers.
