Full page ad here in the local newspaper. Smelled like BS, and it seems to be just that:
The local ad cites Dr. Argy Petros who has NASA credentials. WTF goes on here? Does one lose ones job with NASA and then become a snake oiler?
WTF?

Apparently. I expect it pays well though selling $1 junk to suckers for $50..
There appear to be no advertising standards in America then? Scammer adverts designed to masquerade as newspaper articles. Clever use of words so that their claims are strictly true.
And a spineless toothless BBB wringing its hands Pontius Pilot style...
Hatchet job conflates this sophisticated antenna with a bent wire dipole. Critics should at least do their homework before rushing to press.
nPetros has designed antennas for the XM Satellite people, among others. He has two published apps that have not yet become patented, both for patch antennas using microstrip technology. These are a far cry from the bent wire dipoles that used to be shipped with each portable TV. Is $50 out of line for such an antenna? How much does a new car radio antenna cost?
The very top of the ad does say "Advertisement."
The device is so overhyped that one and all should be able to tell it's an ad.
The Better Business Bureau is, first and foremost, a group of the good guys, set up so they can distinguish themselves from the bad guys in the consumer's mind.
Lump all of the FULL page ads covering "we buy coins, jewelry..", "Federal coin storage JUST released Rare.." and the like; replace "federal" with any words or group of words that _sound_ like it is a part of US Gov. They are a bunch of crooks; talk to any respectable coin dealer; if you have any business like that, shop among the respectable coin dealers. Do not hesitate to ask one about opinions of others in area. Authorities, local, regional, state and Fed plain do not give a s*it; not even the legislature of your fine state..
AND if you are a card-carrying member, you CAN DO NO WRONG.
That's debatable at best. To many the BBB is an organization that has the ethics of a politician. If you are a member, you can do no wrong, if you are not a member (and won't join) you are automatically labeled a scam artist or incompetent.
Yep. Like the State Registrar of Contractors... protects paying members, goes after those who don't. ...Jim Thompson
Yeah, true only if you can read them!
I wish there were an app or a web site that would calculate the number of words in the mouseprint (usually in low contrast, hard-to-read font) divided by the number of seconds the television viewer has to detect, read and comprehend what is written.
They should give an annual award to the advertiser who pegs that meter.
I've seen commercials where they have paragraphs of disclaimers in white text / light gray backgroun, and they give you all of two seconds to read it!
What's that, something like 38,000 words per minute? :)
I'm not as old as Jim (is anyone?), but I think I'm starting to subscribe to his theory that nearly everything is a scam.
his theory that nearly everything is a scam.
Because he's right, basically. One difference between the 'State Register..." and the BBB is that the BBB is not government in any way, shape or form--and they are virtually free to do anything they want as they are answerable to no one except themselves.
his theory that nearly everything is a scam.
Government does otherwise?
If you are a mere consumer, you're beneath contempt.
CHECK.

Maybe that (being a snake oiler) is why he lost his job?
?-)
