Trams are above all a wonderful source of low-frequency M fields. 600 volts means a lot of current. I've seen images on CRTs move a centimeter or more. Yes, they run on DC. The new trams here have 4 120 kW motors, which makes for a dandy 800 amp current, in a nice 3 or 4 meter high loop.
