Many componentd have no value marking at all, and some I cannot find with google, like the MOSFET, Y cap is marked '2kV' and that is all.

It's not like Phihong supplies are incredibly expensive. Spend the couple of bucks and forget this stuff from DealExtreme and HarborFright (some stuff is OK but I wouldn't trust much that plugs in).

Let's not forget the old standby, Caveat Emptor.

There is another CE, namely CE!, which means Copy Exact.

In its extreme interpretation, a supplier can't change anything, not even move a piece of equipment, without 366 day prior approval. And suppliers are expected to demand CE! of sub-tier suppliers.

CE probably was 'self-certified' ....until, and if, someone checks then the product's gone from the market.

It is my understanding that if it sells into Canada without the equivalency of CSA and burns down a building, the Manufacturer is liable for the whole building loss, and the cost of the firemen's time/efforts.

Yes, it could be a zener, or used as avalanche diode perhaps.

I will use the parts I think, it is a pity, I needed that adaptor. Power lead seems OK :-)

Today I got a phone call from the post office my dealextreme cellphone package is opened and they will hand it to customs, how much did I pay (33Euro42 cent), bought it for the OLED display actually... it has a analog TV receiver build in.. can make that signal. Now will customs add 20 % or not? Suspense! At least I now know where it is. :-)

Won't it hit the PCB edge? The glue looks like it just keeps it from rattling around. The creepage is not the 8mm or whatever that we'd like to see, but it doesn't look as bad as all that.
