can u guys help

hi, i'm supposed to do my final year project.i've an idea of doing it in TELEMEDICINE concept. basically i'm from INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY branch. can u guys give me ideas regarding this concept, i know what is telemedicine?, so i need suggestion like ,is it possible for me to do project in telemedicine?, have anyone got convincing ideas?, do help me please?.i'll tell u my idea, will u guys tell me if it absurd? or not posssible? i thought of creating a central database of everybody in country[for example], or consider an organisation, containing details about his or her health information, blood group, allergic to,cardiac patient or so on.., then interconnecting all hospital databases[just an example] the patients health history can be accessed by any doctor from any hospital in anyplace through this database using his/her social health number which i'm planning to ascertain. i dont know whether such system exist or not?, nor do i know whether this will work out so pls guys tell me ur suggestion ?, does it look absurd?, childish?,something bit tedious? i dont know??!?!!!!!

You assume that this student is from the United States, or an equivalent first-world country. This assumption is incorrect.

IP: 59.92.92.84 Country: India City: Chennai, Tamil Nadu

I have no idea how well-stocked the libraries are in India, but I am guessing they are inadequate, even compared with those in the worst ghettos in the US.

Well, thanks for that! Learn something new everyday...

No Micheal, I was assuming that the OP had not done any search engine work before asking his question. I realised that he was probably not from the EU or US, but I think I should have asked what he had found on the internet, as the OP was a bit garbled.

Anyway, yes, the NHS IT is a disaster, too many fingers too many pies, or something like that :-(

from wiki

1)The prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras (1959), is located in the south of the city(Chennai) and is internationally renowned for its engineering program

2)Connemara Public Library at Chennai is one of the four National Depository libraries which receive a copy of all books, newspapers and periodicals published in India. Established in 1890 the library is a repository of centuries-old publications, wherein lie some of the most respected works and collections in the country. It also serves as a depository library for the UN.

Ah! When I was a kid, we had to use the 'card catalog' in the library. Dewey Decimal System, and all that. Plus, I frequented the public library in Richmond, CA, which had a large selection of periodicals (although no Dr. Dobb's Journal, unfortunately).

Is this the same story for most of Europe, or confined to the UK?

No idea, but I tend to think that these days the UK is the world leader in mediocrity, hence my spanish email address.

When I was a lad, the local library was usless. (Oh for AoE, in those days) so my pocket money went on Wireless World, Practical Wireless, the occasional Sci-Am, and the Eagle. It worked, I was offered tech job in a Uni at 17, which I didn't take. I wonder what I would be doing now, if I had.

Can you define "telemedicine" as you understand it, to give us a better perspective of what you're trying to do here?

It could be anything from an on-line database, as is suggested, to a waldo to do surgery by remote control.

What do you know now?

Howcome you can't ask the teacher or your classmates?

Thanks, RIch
