Best Portable GPS

I have GPS built into the Q45, but I'd like to buy something to travel with when I get rental cars. What's the best? ...Jim Thompson

Dunno about the "best" but I got a Garmin Nuvi 1490LMT (lifetime maps and free traffic with ads) for $169 at the end of June from Dell. The warehouse stores stateside are running similar prices. I've tried it in Ontario, Ohio, Michigan and Texas so far and it's pretty good (audio is a bit murky, and Bluetooth not as good as dedicated units, but otherwise fine). Big 5" touch screen, nice solid suction cup, good auto-power off in modern cars. I've loaded Euro City navigator maps into it and they look pretty good too.

An iPhone works well.

Cost from my provider is $10 per month plus data plan usage (the maps are retrieved as required, rather than being stored inside the device).
