One's that do so for components with external mechanical stresses on them and no other mechanical means of support - yes, misguided.

Funny about the millions that have been working just fine for more than 25 years, and it having the best rep in the industry for physical reliability. Pardon the pub, but that ain't no fluke. I've seen a lot more plastic banana jacks break than those Fluke PCB barrel ones.
Dave.
There is a degree of mechanical support there too *as long as the original Fluke leads are used * - the lead's plug 'rubberised' ('plasticised' ?) hilt moulding steadying the plugs in the holes, and transferring downward force to the casing rather than the PCB.

Holy cats! 11 bucks per banana jack? LOL

You dopey prick.

... and this is why I don't buy from Farnell.

As Phil already pointed out (in his usual diplomatic style) that is for 5 pcs.
I have noticed they are getting much better for certain products (e.g. surface mount things on reels). They are sometimes better than Digikey. And you can sort by price, kind of, so actually quite useful when selecting a part for a new design.

Another person who can't read I see. It's for a packet of 5.
Farnell can be cheaper than Jaycar, Digikey, Mouser, RS etc, even more so now with the crap Aussie dollar. They have a ridiculously big range and deliver same day. and they have just lowered prices and increased stock on lots of semi's to boot.
Yes, some things are still outragously expensive, but smart people know what stuff is worth and use the likes of
Dave.
My apologies Phil! Yes it does say 5 for $11. Are you always in such a good mood? LOL

I don't know if you are still looking, and I am unsure as to where in the world you are, but the Fluke part number is 642959.
I am after the same "Input Recepticle" (as it is called by Fluke), and stumbled across this thread.
Hopefully you will be able to order them through a Fluke sevice center like I am doing.
