Read the thread about switching reg for audio amp. Can someone suggest a chip for 40-50W /8 ohms from a single supply 28V nom. cheap and nasty is fine, as is low pin count, mono only needed. TIA.

Just about any major semiconductor vendor got that. Check TI, ST, Freescale, Zetex, IR.

Reinhard, Please don't ruin audiophool TT_Man's day.

In a PERFECT world 28V, BTL, into 8 Ohms = 49 Watts.

It is probably realistic to get 36 Watts if you are careful.

TDA7294 Class D requires dual supplies 100 watts.
