I am working on a capacitive sensing application and would like to do some first order monkeying around. Plastic linear potentiometers maybe?

Possible sources: capacitive switches? Keypads, e.g. remote controls?
Depends on how much capacitance you need. Easy enough to make your own...have Dremel, will travel.
