Amplify handheld meter buzzer sound level.

We have a meter that measures RF field strength. It has a threshold setting that beeps a buzzer when the peek field strength gets above a certain level.

The issue is the beep it somewhat soft. In a quiet room with normal hearing, it is easily audible. Unfortunately the tech has some hearing loss and the room is not always totally quiet (electronic fans running).

I'm thinking there is a little condenser mike I can tape to the device to amplify the beeping sound. The meter is hung on the wall and is on 24/7 so it will not be touched or bumped during operation. (external noises not amplified) Ideally it would only be sensitive to the beep frequency range but a filter may be in order to make that happen i'm sure.

A alternative is to light/blink a large easily seeable (at least 1") LED

I could design and build something but don't have the spare time now. Something off the shelf from Amazon, ebay, or equivalent would be preferred.

Appreciate any suggestions.

thanks

Would wireless headsets like motorcyclists use be of any use?

Commercial fire alarm annunciators often include a strobe light, for this very reason.

might do the trick.

Just mount the meter on a sound board like from on old piano.

off-the-shelf, hmm, you could try a record player as contact microphone and amplifier.

Or on a banjo, thus gaining two advantages at once...

Amazon and others have lots of types of these.

This one is £5.24 in the UK. If you hunt you might find one with a mains psu built in.
