You mean paying 30$ for the same supply made in China anyways will somehow make it better? Do you have a study backing that up? That I'd enjoy reading on my made in China PC.

The ones without (real) international approvals are considerably cheaper.

Was at a seminar yesterday (LTSpice World Tour) and was talking with one of the guys there who used to work from Qualcomm. He related the story about why some of the batteries went PHHHTTT on cell phones and laptops, which ya'll might enjoy.

It seems that Kyocera bought a section of Qualcomm that had designed some cel phones. They decided to outsource the production to China, and asked for 10M units, so warned his company to expect an order for

Order comes in, it is for 20M parts. They call back to confirm order, and it is definitely 20M! Seems the chinese manufacturer is going to build 20M units - 10M for Kyocera, and 10M for themselves!

Then, there are problems. batteries going PHHHTTT, fires, injuries, etc. When inspected, they found out that the battery protection chip was put in 90 degrees out, so it didn't work. Chinese manufacturer had just blue wired around it to make the unit work, so the batteries were being overcharged, over discharged, etc. But, the liability is Kyocera's! (and Sony's, Dells, etc...)
