By OB1Actually the laser and other printer era is over.The pdf and gif era is here.If your c[l]u[n]stomer is unable to use vector graphics,because they have not heard of a laptop or PC yet,give them a free ebook reader or laptop.They will be thankful.And send them pdf format files.Sometimes, gif or jpg files are even more efficient.Paper[clip]less office was announced many times in the past.It silently made it's inroads.Some have not noticed yet.Trees make oxygen, help them.

Yes, we were, but you changed it to paper simulating near zero power imaginary devices. You weaseled away form 'cannot make notes in a pdf' to 'those are not the sort of notes I want to make' You gave as example a 1995 product that was 'close to what you find usable' while it it clearly inferior to a modern netbook. I pointed out that 'notes' and stuff is not only text and maybe small drawings, but could includes links to actual moving content, something that requires the CPU cycles you claim not to need.

Reality check, I repeat: Write it if it does not exist. Else, as stated: Keep using your paper. Paper will not help you a bit enlarging a detail, something that can be easily done in a pdf. Paper will not run a simulation or animation for a customer, something that could be helpful in convincing him to buy a product. Color is just as essential in our lives.

So, as somebody stated, waffling is the alternative perception generated by some of your comments. I take them serious, I know you mean it, but I also know you are a small minority, every f*ckin datasheet is a pdf and I can get to it from any place in the world with my laptop, my Vodafone wireless connection is worldwide, so I can put the thing on the coffee table at the customer, show them the data, show them the youtube video demonstrating the product, show them my calculations, all with a click of the button. Paper is for that place where you use it to wipe that other place where sh*t lives. So, lets stay clear of that stuff.

No waffling or weaseling occurred that I know of, however I have tried to communicate better as we proceeded along. But I know my own needs perfectly well.

My reason for pointing out the _1993_ (not 1995) product is to aid that communication between us, not to waffle. It shows how well two aspects of what I believe needs to be done, can be done -- the ability to use it instantly and have it function without impeding me or getting in the way and the ability to use cheap, readily available power systems and not overly expensive, unique ones. Both of these things are important to me.

The HP 300 Omnibook was done by the calculator division, I remember reading, so perhaps that is part of why it worked so seemlessly well on those scores. Calculators have to be easy to use by consumers needing to 'calculate' or they simply won't sell. That will be important here, too.
