Hi,
We would like to present you our new project: TwinTeeth a PCB mini-factory.
It is a multi-functional robot designed to make printed circuit boards at h ome.
Make PCBs prototypes at home is a tedious task. The complete process includ es using diverse techniques: printing, etching, drilling, dispensing, placi ng components, soldering, etc. This is the ideal environment for a multi-fu nctional robot.
We designed something new: an inverted delta robot, where the tool is fixed on top of the robot and the PCB moves below it. In this way the tool is ve ry easy to interchange.
For printing PCBs it uses the PHR803-T blu-ray pickup we hacked last year. This optic pickup has three laser diodes: red, IR and UV. We focus the lase r with precision using the IR diode because it doesn't blur the UV film. Th en we use the UV diode to print on the film. The robot prints in rastering mode at 600DPI of resolution.
It can print double-side PCBs easily because includes a precision fixture b ed to attach the PCB.
It can do the following functions:
- Laser Photoengraving on dry-film or presensitized boards
- Drilling using any mini-rotary tool like Dremel(R) or Proxxon(R)
- Dispensing solder paste
- Plotting circuits with a permanent pen maker.
- 3D printing with ABS or PLA
- Milling/Carving soft materials or etching PCBs with a v-bit.
- And much more...
We worked on this project almost two years. Now we are working on the tutor ial. It's Open Source, so you can download all the blue-prints, schematics and s oftware.
Take a look please:
Thanks,
Diyouware Team.
