555 Timer, Astable Oscillator Help

Nov 06, 2007 1 Replies

I'm trying to use a 555 timer to output a specific frequency for an indefinite period of time, no more than a minute, for the application I need it to output 2 signals at about 28 hertz (with some fine tunning) independent of each other, I have a circuits I setup (that I found online) now that seems to work fine except its running in the 3 to 6 hertz range it seems to output both at the same frequency for an indefinite amount of time, I'm new to 555 timers and I've tried looking online for equations but I'm failing to see relation between their circuit and my circuit, here is link to a diagram of the circuit I have

This is a basics question (sci.electronics.basics added).

First, you're going to have to be much more specific about what you're trying to do. Electronic circuits don't just kind of do what you want, they do exactly one thing: whatever their design dictates. You need to a) decide what has to be done and b) communicate that to others, else c) no one will be able to help you with your circuit. Specify everything that's important: frequency, stability, voltage levels, power constraints, etc.

Second, if you want two independent signals, you need two separate oscillators -- two 555s.

Third, if you don't understand the 555, read the data sheet!

I hope this'll help get you started.

Cheers, James Arthur
