0805 size high power resistors, 250mW ok on FR-4?

None of my current clients is like that, either. It's just that I've seen a few organizations that just couldn't possibly be that badly managed by accident alone.

Now that I'm a full-time consultant, I have plenty of work from a fairly diverse set of clients. I get paid straight time and materials, while they take the risks and reap the rewards (or not). This suits me just fine.

OK, experiment on my metal fake-pewter lamp shade:

Thermocouple 54.0C

Scotch Magic tape 53.7

Elec tape 55.3

Black expo marker 50.5

Duct tape 50.1

Copper tape 25.6

Could be the electrical tape has higher emissivity than the Flir default, which is 0.86.

Hey, this happens to big corps too, not just start ups!

Look at Cadence for the last few years. The execs are just there for their big paychecks, and don't really care what the company does or sells, just can they make their MBOs to get their bonuses and options. Their emphasis is just on either selling the company, or buying other companies to make their numbers look good. I suspect half of them don't even know what the software actually does...

It was Concept that was recently described to me as "user carnivorous" ;-)

For a couple of decades i had thought that the worst software was classed as user vicious. This seems to be an even more extreme category. User vicious software corners the user into making an interface mistake then crashes destructively. Kind of like M$windows95, but much more so, as it was impossible to prevent or avoid the destructive crash.

Concept can be a very good application,IFF you are the enterprise level CAD group that it was designed for. It assumes that you have a libary GROUP that creates and updates parts for a living, that is then used by designers throughout a very large company, often in multiple design sites. It is then worth all the effort required to set all those attributes and properties on everything. If you are a small company or design group, it simply isn't appropriate.

Of course, Cadence Sales doesn't care about any of this...
