Replace Magic Eye tubes with LCDs

It would be great if we could replace Magic Eye tubes with LCDs with backlights. Any thoughts on this?

Sure. It would be even greater if we could replace Magic Eye tubes with even bigger Magic Eye tubes.

I still like the idea of LCDs with backlights.

Could work.. EL backlight can be close to the right colour, maybe with a filter it could be a very close match. If the LCD is graphic, with small pixels, and an ability to address each with intensity as well as on/off, a very realistic magic eye display could be made.

Given the kind of LCD in a camera, a precise colour image of a real magic eye could be used. Not sure how pointful this is, exactly, but I used to like the magic eye display in an old Echo radio I had once, and seeing that done in LCD would be compelling stuff.
