Had a chuckle last night when I heard on ABC news that Australia has offered to send 'nuclear specialists' to Japan to assist in the problems that they're having with their power plants. Australia, which runs one tinpot reactor that they purchased from Argentina of all countries, and which has zero operating experience with power reactors.
I presume that the response from Japan would have been whatever polite gesture diplomats use when they want to say 'thanks, but you must be joking'.

** Is that what was really said?Only reports I can locate suggest it is to help in the assessment of what harm to the environment is likely and how to deal with that.

**For the record: I had a long chat with one of the scientists who works at ANSTO. They are extremely happy with the choice of reactor.
Back in the early days of nuclear technology we had some very clever boffins, probably a bit behind now.
Don't even suggest Ziggy Switkowski was in that category, But then again, sending him there might be a suitable punishment for the evil he did as Telstra chief.
