I have a .75 inch diameter toroid core I picked up surplus and I would like to wind a simple pulse transformer (aka trigger transformer) to turn on a back-to-back SCR pair for a one-off project (it's an etch tank heater). The core had two windings of 8 turns on it (18 guage - not bifilar) and was apparently made by Pulse. I measured the inductance of the 8 turn winding and it was pretty low (2 uh on a cheap multimeter L scale) so I'm guessing a fairly low mu ferrite.
I have some #30 AWG magnet wire lying around. Will winding it around once with a trifilar winding be likely to work or is it much more involved than that?
Haven't found much info on winding these things on the net.
Any suggestions or net resources would be appreciated. TIA. mr coffee
