That's the cage for an SFP optical module.

Just thought it looked cool.

Of course, the solder mask will actually be blue.

I think that's a 3D PDF somehow, but Foxit Reader doesn't seem to understand that.

It's apparently a 3D PDF file.

Solder mask, not paste. All our boards are blue with yellow silk.

Green boards are boring.

The 3D PDF works nicely in PDF X-Change Editor 8.0. Screen dump: It can also show the PCB as wireframe, transparent, various types of lighting, etc. Zoom, pan, and rotate function normally.

That's probably my layout guy being artsy. Sometimes he does that.

There's no reason some pads should be gold either.

This is a 2 GBPS bidirectional ecl-to-optical converter for some sort of missile testing, or something.
