Wireless Bluetooth Anti-Loss Key Tracker - could use some communications info ..

Hello all,

I saw a product named "Wireless Bluetooth Anti-Loss Key Tracker" and decided to buy one, together with AT-09 bluetooth LE module. Would be fun to connect them and see what all I could do with it, right ?

Well, I might have made a mistake: I assumed that the Anti-Loss Key would come with enough documentation to figure out how to use it. But all it came with was a "download this app and it works". It does not even mention a product code :-(

So, my question: does anyone recognise this product and how to communicate with it ?

The key can be told to emit a beep, and it can send a "camera shutter" signal. Although I think I can find out the latter by looking at what the AT-09 receives, I think I will have very little chance to figure out what to send. :-\

To be honest, I do not even know how to pair such an BLE device ...

The device seems to be the one as shown here:

P.s. The AT-09 module is in backorder, so the actual testing with that will need to wait a bit.

There's a lot of Bluetooth, zigbee and wifi junk around that pushes you towards its own app. Before buying such things you should do some research as to what's inside and whether other people have hacked it. Often they use common platforms (eg ESP8266 for wifi) and there's either reverse engineered protocols or replacement firmware.

In this case the device seems to be called an iTag, and if you google that:

suggesting they're a simple BLE beacon with a button. I'm not very familiar with the BLE world but that second link suggests they can be paired with a BLE software stack if you build such a thing on your Pi (or other machine).

Theo,

...

Thanks. That should give me a startingpoint. And the RPi already supporting BLE ? Thats even better. :-)
