Frustrating SSH issue

If the 'other' machine is linux and ALL you want to do is data transfer set up NFS.

FTP is another option.

As is SAMBA to use pi as windows file server.

That would require something absurdly complicated like two twisted copper pairs connected to each machine and one of those new fangled keyboard things.

Why can't anyone just keep it simple like having a load of scripts to automount a USB stick and copy files to a headless machine all controlled by playing wav files and yanking the power cord out :D

Don't forget you'd have to write the scripts in an absurd notation and then dd the resulting byte-code to the USB stick to avoid those complex file systems...

No, dd is too complicated, why would anyone need that? Easier to describe some assembly language on a newsgroup, berate other people into assembling it for you, and then have the shell put that machine code into some other executable, where it will then be executed to copy the data to the USB stick.

*That* is the easy way to do it.
