Need a schematic. Yeh I can buy one but what fun is that? I had to replace one banana jack in the back and noticed a group of 4 63 volt / 3300uf caps that the tops were bulged. The amp works fine otherwise. I've had this in my A/V collection for 8 years and it's gotten little hard use although it used to be my subwoofer power amp (700 watts RMS into 8 ohms) for my A/V stuff and ran continuously. I liked it for that application because the cooling fan was variable speed and quiet unless the amp was being hit hard. I think now though I'm going to use it stereo with a 4x12 guitar cabinet wired for stereo and a Peavey Tube Fex guitar signal processor that I bought broken (bad 3.6 volt soldered in NiCad batter to hold patches in memory).
I probably should open the amp back up and take a pic of these caps so anyone interested can have a look. I'm telling you that they look really bad but the amp really hasn't been abused, just left on for maybe 2 years continuous. That shouldn't have swelled those caps up right? That amp was always well ventilated and I used it for maybe 2 years after as a bass guitar amp in the bridge 700 watt RMS mode. Talk about the perfect amp for that, used with an BBE bass guitar preamp and a 4x10 Fender cabinet it thumped out the bass.
Anyway I guess I should just do the obvious and replace those 4 caps. They aren't very big, I've seen much bigger caps used in the rail. I'm not sure they are rail caps but what else would they use 4 grouped together for? And I don't recall seeing other caps for the rail but admit I didn't give it a good look.
