I'm looking at buying a Devilbiss GB5000 portable generator. Seller says says it need a new stator for about $250. Does any place repair/rewind stators for small generators or is this strictly a remove and replace part?
He says rotor and other parts are good (who knows ???)
What would cause the stator to fail in the first place ?
Some have DIY stators but you may be opening up a can of worms here.
The stator is probably fine, the Devilbiss generator I repaired for someone had a bad capacitor, the thing was a poorly made piece of junk though.
