Pioneer Elite DV-37 dvd player tray closes by itself.............

Nov 29, 2008 5 Replies

Hi, have this Pioneer Elite DV-37 dvd player.....press the open/close button & disc tray will open all the way, pause for a fraction of a second and close by itself. Maybe one time in a dozen tries it'll stay open. Would like to fix this & use as a CD transport. Have cover open, what am i looking for?....some sort of 'micro switch' contact that needs cleaning? I can't really see anything....the disc tray is all exposed in the open, all plastic, you can see the steel laser tracking array inside/below & everyting is mounted on a steel substructure with a steel bearing plate over head. Any help is appreciated.

thx

Haven't seen that one but usually, it's a leaf switch whose contacts need cleaning.

Sounds like the "close" function is always on, or else the comon button for open and close is intermittently/mostly making contact.

..thx for taking the time guys...on the microswitch, typically where might that be located?...underneath toward the front of drive or?.....how do you get at it, i don't see anything obvious ...perhaps the front panel needs come off? & Bob, there's an open/close push button...are you saying the switch itself is wearing out?....to be frank, the button has seen very little use, the machine has in general, but 99.9% via remote. I have an older gen ELite DV-05 that does the same thing. Also behaved the same via remote or front panel.

Since i've posted this i gave the tray rails and gear drive that i could see a very liberal blast of contact cleaner & let it dry out.....now it seems to work w/o issue.....maybe i blasted the micro-switch w/o knowing it?

thx&rgds
