JVC and their "CONDENSATION, OPERATION PAUSED. PLEASE WAIT" problems

What is it with JVC? Their GRD models are plagued with problem after problem and JVC just doesn't seem to want to stand behind their products and fix the problems. First I had the infamous 'LENS CAP' problem where the whole unit just stopped recording video. It really was a very expensive audio recorder and after several calls and a lot of headaches I got JVC to admit that the problem was theirs and they agreed to fix it (it was still under warranty). Well, not too long after I got the unit back from JVC it started to come up with the 'CONDENSATION, OPERATION PAUSED. PLEASE WAIT' problem. I did what they say in their documentation and no joy, problem would not go away. I looked at the Google and guess what, over 500 entries, from many countries, of people having the same problem. Well, I live in Colorado where it is one of the driest climates around and there is NO CONDENSATION in the camera. Blow drying it does not help, leaving it on for hours and hours does not help. I have gotten it to go away sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for a few hours by taking the whole unit apart, hitting everything I can see with iso alcohol and putting it all back together. Now this unit is LESS THAN TWO years old, has been well cared for (we use it to tape holidays, kids birthdays and a team I coach's basketball games).

JVC refuses to do anything other than say that you have to bring it to one of their AUTHORIZED dealers and pay to have it fixed. Now with the hundreds of people reporting this problem I find this answer unacceptable. What I would like to find out is a) how many other people have had this problem and b) has anyone found a long term solution.

Thanks,

Roger

That is interesting .. i have several of those from a salvage outfit with the `lens cover` message . I found out its a light filter inside the camera that fails to open .If i take te camera apart and lift the filter manually the camera works .

Panasinic also had the ``dew`` problem , i never figured out how to fix that .

Even 500 people don't mean shit to a big company.

When you say less than two years old I assume it's out of warranty so it sounds like all you have to do is replace or eliminate the dew sensor. You can eliminate it with relative impunity in dry climates.

Expect unresolvable problems with everything you buy, also expect the comany's attitude to get more aloof to your needs. Once they got your money that's it. You can't even boycott their brand now because the nameplate means nothing anymore. It could've been made by Ching Kwik in China or Toyspay prison in some other country.

Anyway, if it uses tape, it has to do with the dew sensor, if it uses a disk ir might have something to do with the laser. Hard to say until I am familiar with the model.

Wasn't that to avoid the "X-Ray vision" problem? (Sony Camcorders with Night Shot Function).
