I have seen several modules around, and want to know which one you have used, and liked. Not really looking for a dev board...I build my own...looking for a module to do the ethernet work...building a prototype for multiple unitsfor some home automation fun stuff. (Wired ethernet is my plan)

You want a module, but not a dev board... the difference being size? Or are you really wanting the controller chips?
Here are some Ethernet proto boards that you can add to an existing kit.
The TCP software is no small trick. There are several open source, or you can go for Bentham's book TCP/IP Lean (excellent), which includes a PIC IP stack for personal use.

All of the dev boards I have looked at contain a load of additional 'crap' which I don't want. I guess I really am looking for controller chips, when you get down to it. :-)
I have a lot of experience with writing my own TCP/IP s support, so I "have no fear". I actually have a few of the open source ones I pulled down to look at when I started my crazy idea.
I was mostly looking for for someone's experience who has a done a project with one of the available boards out there...I like to use equipment that is referred by others...makes me assume things will go well!
