USB question

Hi all,

I want to control a breadboard-based circuit via USB, but I am wondering about the prospects for doing that.

  1. Where do I find USB devices will give me digital outputs, e.g. 8 lines and a few inputs?

  1. I'm using Windows, which is no RTOS. What kind of frequency could I achieve if, for instance, I controlled the USB device using a C++ program?

Thanks.

FTDI do a little module UM245R for about £11 / $20 It has USB at one end and 8 data bits in/out at the other. Looks like a com port to Windows. hth Neil
