replacement for mbr1560ct

hi, friends I have a problem with mbr1560ct it is a 15A schottky barrier rectifier but I didn't find it then I will try the two following ideas & I want your suggestions

the first idea

1-I think that if I connect the emitter for two power transistor like mj2955 together & connect the for every transistor to it's collector. is this a replacement for the mbr1560ct

the second idea

2- did I use a Scr ( thyristor) as a replacement but I will connect a resistance between the gate & the source to limite voltage & current

what are your opinions ?

many thanks for all readers

Are you trying to replace an mbr1560ct with something else? Usually this isn't a good idea except in extreme circumstances.

Are you in the US?

seems to have it in stock. And if they have it others should too.

Schottky diodes can turn off much faster than normal silicon diodes (or diodes made from power transistors), so if the circuit in which you use the diode operates at a high frequency (e.g. PC power supply) then your replacement diode will get very hot and probably fail.

If you can find an old PC power supply, it would probably have the diode you want inside, or something compatible. Old PC power supplies can be found in the bin or at the dump quite often. This is probably cheaper than buying just a diode too.
